Plunder was dreamed up, planned out and born in the small town of Payson Utah, known for its lion pride and annual onion days celebration. With a population of just under 23,000 it doesn’t sound like much, but to the people who call it home it means everything.
Most Plunder employees have come to find our small company through a family member at plunder, a friend or even through church here in Payson. Because of that, we have our own small town feel right here at Plunder Corp. We all know and care about each other, and we are all achieving dreams, whatever they may be, that’s why we feel our company is such a success.
A Plunder veteran, Jennifer Sessions, originally from the small town of West Plains, Missouri, has been working for Hillary Adams since before Plunder was even Plunder! Plunder was a financial support to her family from the very beginning.
“Our family had been going through a tough couple of years financially at the time I happened to meet Hillary. We had decided to invest in real estate, and consequently ended up losing our investment in the 2008 recession. In the middle of dealing with that, my husband was trying to start his own business, and we were basically living off of what savings we had left. Needless to say, our budget was extremely tight! Our children were 6, 10, and 13 and I had been a stay-at-home mom since our oldest was born. We found ourselves in a situation where we were looking for solutions and hoping that things would improve.
In the spring of 2009, my daughter and I happened to walk into a little store on Main Street in Payson. I had recently become interested in making my own jewelry and the charms and soldered pendants Hillary had for sale there caught my eye. As we were looking, she came over and we struck up a conversation. She needed someone who could help make charms for her growing small business, and I thought maybe I could help with that. I brought her some samples of what I could do, and she agreed to give me some work! Isn’t it amazing how just the blessing you need, can come into your life in an unexpected way?
It wasn’t much at first, I don’t even think I was making minimum wage, but I was so glad to be able to make a little money we could use for things like dance class, piano lessons, or any number of little extras we hadn’t splurged on for a while (like clothes for my daughter in Junior High!) I loved the creative part too, and took pride in doing the best work I could offer. I frequently had necklace parts strung out all over the family room floor or kitchen table, and as Hillary’s business grew, she offered me more work, and I took it! My husband’s employment situation improved, and I kept working too. Over the next few years my children got used to finding me sitting at the kitchen table making necklaces, pendants, or earrings. I felt good about my work and it was nice to be able to contribute to our income.
As the years went by, my family became accustomed to me working on various projects at home (which I was really grateful for!) as well as helping out with a craft show now and then. My favorite part of working with Hillary has always been playing with ideas for new pieces and the thrill of creating something together. Over the past 7 years, Hillary and I have become friends. I was excited to see her take her company in a bold, new direction in 2014, and I’m happy to see her growth and feel privileged to help Plunder succeed with my small part in the personalized pendants department where I work now. Plunder has been a blessing in my family’s life, and I’m so grateful I walked into that store back in 2009!” –Jennifer Sessions
Because of the benefits and blessings we saw come into the lives of mothers and families that were a part of our small Plunder family, we began dreaming of sending Plunder rewards to small towns across the nation. We had no idea how fast that dream would be realized! There are now over 2000 plunder representatives across the country. They are climbing ladders, reaping rewards and we couldn’t be happier to call them part of our Plunder team!
One of those representatives we are happy to call our own, is a small town girl from McMinnville, Tennessee, Chandi Nunley. Chandi writes,
“Joining Plunder has changed my life in so many ways. I get recognized when I go out as the Plunder lady. I know people are so skeptical of direct sales and whether there is really money to be made but when people see how Plunder has enabled me to help within my community, they see that it really is working.
Plunder has made it possible for me to help a number of families and organizations in my communities. This year at Christmas I was able to spend about $2000 on quite a few local families who needed help. One of which was a fellow stylist struggling with health issues. I have been able to donate to the local senior center, humane society, benefit auctions and my son’s school. I also plan to organize a relay for life team in 2016.
My success came at the perfect time when I was also able to help my parents after my stepfather had a horrible car accident in July. He was hospitalized for weeks and still hasn’t been able to return to work as of January 2016. It was nice to know they didn’t have to worry about bills and having little to no income during his recovery.
I look back and see how God put me on this path for such times as these to be his hands and feet and help my fellow brothers and sisters and family.” Chandi Nunley ,4 Star Peep
We have all been at that point some time during our lives when money has been something we have to worry about week to week. I thank God that now I am searching for people who need help. My mama always raised me and showed us that we always give to others if we’ve got it to give. It’s a very humbling feeling to be able to give to those who need it and give back to my community.”
Plunder was fashioned out of the need to create something beautiful and it has evolved to help so many women, like Chandi and Jennifer, create their own success and help change the lives of those around them. We are blown away at the accomplishment of this small town company and we owe it all to the success of not only our headquarters crew, but also Plunder representatives throughout the nation.
